Conducting Summer Program (July 2026)

The Gleeson Conducting Institute's Conducting Summer Program ( July 9–29, 2026 ) is a high-pressure, high-support proving ground for intermediate–advanced conductors: 7+ hours of podium time conducting, including the fully professional International Vratsa Symphony Orchestra, pre-orchestra rehearsals with 4-hands, two pianos, public concerts at the Philharmonic Hall, and professional multi-camera HD video and audio recordings.  Spa accommodation at Hemus Hotel (breakfast included). Limited to 12 active participants. Places for auditors also available. Deadline extended to April 24th 2026.

...

You’ll be coached by a serious, international faculty—not “guest clinicians,” but working conductors who will hold you to professional standards and push your rehearsal leadership forward. Derek Gleeson (Artistic Director) brings decades of concert, opera, and screen-music leadership and a long record of training conductors through high-intensity, podium-driven programs.  Vincent de Kort adds top-tier, world-stage perspective—regularly invited by major orchestras and opera houses (including the Bolshoi and Mariinsky) and widely known as former jury chairman of the Dutch prime-time TV phenomenon “Maestro.”  Christo (Hristo) Pavlov, Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Vratsa Symphony Orchestra, brings the inside-the-orchestra viewpoint you can’t fake: how to get results fast, communicate clearly, and earn trust in real rehearsal conditions.  And Nikola (“Niki”) Petrov, conductor and score supervisor with substantial studio recording experience, helps you bridge technique with practical session craft—clarity, preparation, and decision-making that reads instantly to professional players.
